The Blood Pressure Association have set up the “Know Your Numbers” campaign to ensure as many people as possible take up the opportunity of receiving a free blood pressure check.

Having your blood pressure checked could save your life!

Around 16 million people in the UK are living with high blood pressure. The arteries and blood vessels in the body become narrorower and this can lead to damage to the brain or heart.

People with high blood pressure are at an increased risk of heart attack, stroke, heart failure, kidney disease, dementia and some eye conditions. So as you can imagine it isn’t something to ignore!

The “Know Your Numbers” campaign has been devised to encourage more people to take their blood pressure and overall heath more seriously.

Throughout National Blood Pressure Week (8th-14th September) you can receive a free blood pressure check and information at around 3,000 Pressure Stations across the country. To find your nearest Pressure Station CLICK HERE!

When you visit a Pressure Station your blood pressure and recommended follow-up action will be noted on a handy record card for you to keep. You will also be given a free leaflet that explains what the numbers mean and how to lower your blood pressure.

There are a number of complex factors which can lead to high blood pressure, but the main thing to remember is lead a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle, get plenty of exercise and only indulge in moderation.
