Simply Yours From Brief to Bra – The Final Week!

There’s only one week left of our lingerie design competition, so here are some tips on entering:

1) First of all, remember that Simply Yours is a plus size company and we’re looking for a lingerie set which will look beautiful on a plus size lady.

2) Now it’s time to get inspired! If an idea doesn’t immediately come to your mind, then try a few of these tricks:

- Think about the lingerie you own. Is there anything you’d love to have but what you’re looking for just doesn’t exist?

- Look at what’s out there at the moment – are there any shapes you love or prints you adore, but the overall package just isn’t quite right?

- Get inspired by your clothes! Do you have a dress with a beautiful pattern or a top that requires a certain type of strap which just doesn’t exist? Use that as a starting point.

- See what’s hot on the catwalk – prints? Ruching?

- Think about colours and materials that you particularly like to wear, or you’ve seen other people wear well.

- Do you want to design something sexy, practical or everyday pretty?

3) Now do some rough drawings. You may do a few before you hit on the perfect design but don’t be discouraged. Practise makes perfect! Even when you hit on the right design, make sure to practise each drawing a few times to make sure you’ve covered all angles and really given it your best shot.

4) Now you have the design sorted, it’s time to get it done for real. Remember we only need up  to three double sided A4 pieces of paper, to be split between:

One fashion drawing (front and back view)
Two working drawings (one bra and one brief, both must be drawn with front and back views)
Fabric identification
Detailed ideas about components/print/embellishment
Up to 200 words detailing your inspiration

You can choose between submitting hand drawn images or images drawn on the computer – it’s entirely up to you.

5) The more detail you can supply the better, and that includes colour/material swatches and inspiration pictures.

6) When you’re happy with your images, get them over to us! You can either send them by e-mail (if you’ve drawn your images you will need to scan them or take a picture of them) to brieftobra@gmail.com. 7) Don’t forget that the deadline is Sunday 14th February.
