Joanne Crowe, who created her Perth based business BOUTIQUE 88 specialising in clothing and underwear for sizes 14-30 and Janine Mison owner/founder of Real Women Have Curves and CURVY REVOLUTION – have joined forces to fill the gap in the Plus Size fashion market for Australian women.
Being a curvy girl all her life- Jo had always found it near impossible to find clothing to compliment her body shape; yes it was fine if she wanted to wear what Homer Simpson once referred to as a “muumuu” -a large sheet with a bit of elastic here and there- but she wanted something trendy, fabulous and chic. With over 25 years in the fashion industry under her belt, Jo had a great understanding of not only her own frustrations but the frustrations other curvy girls were experiencing trying to find gorgeous garments that actually fitted and flattered. Boutique 88 was launched in 2006 and specializes in clothing and underwear that suits the Australian climate, all age groups, nationalities and caters for curvy girl’s up to size 30. 3 years and 3 stores later in WA, Jo was still noticing a gap in the market. Coupled with her dream of having her own designer label, Jo developed a range aptly named Curvaliscious. She tested the market in her 3 stores in WA.
Curvaliscious is the plus size woman’s dream label. An on-trend range with gorgeous bright colours, fashionable mix n match designs with cool beautiful fabrics that don’t require ironing, her garments are flattering and effortless to wear.
With the demand for her designs increasing and the word spreading nationwide and internationally, Joanne and her team tipped that the rest of Australia were ready for this range and sourced the perfect launchpad for the new range into the nationwide arena. The obvious choice was this weeks Sydney Fashion Exposed, celebrating 20 years of service to the fashion industry. The challenge now – how to aptly do justice to the range on the catwalk?
Enter Janine Mison and Curvy Revolution.
