Crystal Renn Reports on New York Fashion Week

I wanted to point you in the direction of US fashion magazine, Glamour who has enlisted Crystal Renn to report on the happenings of New York Fashion Week. As you may be aware, Crystal is a plus size model, who has had a lot to do with the fashion industry in recent months and now she has moved off the catwalk temporarily to deliver her thoughts on the catwalk shows.
I love her insight into the fashion industry and her explanation of the styles coming off the catwalk but I must agree with some of the comments left on the Glamour website. Crystal dismisses the fact that these women are still made to look like coat-hangers, and I know it is the model’s decision in the end to reduce her body weight and conform to the sizing of the designer’s sample size but surely this unhealthy and damaging process is still UNHEALTHY and DAMAGING not only to the model but to those who view the models?
It is in many people’s opinions to change the way we view fashion and instead of conforming to one size, the fashion should be presented on many different bodies; it should be about diversity. After all the people who wear the fashion and the end result from the catwalk concepts are not the proportions of a model.
I am still totally bemused why this is happening and if you are too then please sign our petition to get the body diversity we strive to see into the fashion industry.
