Calling Curvy Girls! Curves are in! The unique heat in the Miss England competition 2011!

Miss Natural Curves 2011 is a new and decisive departure from the usual beauty competition genre being specifically aimed at the curvaceous figure. Now in it’s second year the pageant is taking further strides to improve the stereotypical concept of beauty in the media. It aims to encourage healthier body images in the fashion world and as a result, entrants can be of any shape, size and height, but will have to be over a UK size 10.

Reilly Studios, a photography studio based in Leicestershire is organising this brilliant and unique idea. Kerry Edge, founder of Miss Natural Curves competition said: “We want to give girls who have a combination of curves and beauty a real chance. We’re veering away from standard size zero catwalk requirements. We know that the average British woman is a size 16 so we’re trying and want to reflect the real woman in todays modelling industry.” She went on to say, “Last years winner, Rebecca Morton, won a years modeling contract with top plus size London agency, Hughes Models, and a place in the Miss England final, fantastic prizes all of which are available this year. Rebecca finished in the top 20 finalists.”

Since winning, Rebecca, 24 and a size 14 – has been busy with her modeling career, in charity fundraising for B-EAT the eating disorders charity, and, as a budding actress as well, taking classes at New Yorks Film Academy.

She also overcame an eating disorder to enter the competition in the first place, and to boost her body confidence, after being dropped from a child model agency when she started filling out.

“Miss Natural Curves has proved that you can be over a size 10 and be beautiful and healthy, as well as successful in the fashion business. It opened the doors for me and I hope it opens them for many others”, she said.

We aren’t encouraging unhealthy, overweight girls, but shapely, luscious, toned figures. The girl who is lucky enough to be crowned Miss Natural Curves 2011 will be guaranteed a place in the Miss England final next year.

The competition also has the full support of Chloe Marshall, a size 16 model, who made it through to the Miss England 2008 final, after being crowned Miss Surrey. 5ft 10in Chloe said I am really excited to be supporting a heat that will reassure girls out there that you do not have to be tall and skinny to be considered beautiful Jo Egan Irish Heavyweight Boxing Champion more recently featured in the new film Sherlock Holmes is a judge on the judging panel and pro Miss Natural Curves.

Each year the competition sponsors a chosen charity. Last year this was B-EAT the eating disorders charity who received over £4000 pounds. This year the chosen charity will be The Variety Club.

Twenty four girls will be picked to enter the Grand final, which is to be held at the award winning Civic Hall in Bedworth in April.

The competition is open to girls in the UK, under the usual Miss England rules. To enter the competition visit www.missnaturalcurves.co.uk or www.missengland.info/
