Britain’s largest teenager back from USA
An article by Sarah
Posted June 19, 2009 Georgia Davis then aged 15 and weighing in at 33 stone, was told last August to loose twenty stone or risk losing her life.
Georgia couldn’t walk more than a few steps without being out of breath and has developed Type 2 diabetes all due to her weight. The teen was told her only option was to go to a weight loss boarding school in America.
Her typical daily diet included processed ready-meals, several sandwiches, multi-packs of peanuts and crisps, sausages, pasties, chips, chocolate and chunks of cheese – washed down with litre bottles of Coke or pints of milk. It adds up to 13,538 calories a day. The average 15-year-old girl only needs 2,000 calories a day and should weigh 9st 4lb.
Georgia, from Aberdare, South Wales, was banned from her school canteen for over-eating and the NHS ruled that the size 38 teenager was too young for gastric band surgery, slimming pills or a gym membership.
Georgia’s only hope of survival was the Wellspring Academy, in North Carolina, USA – a tough fitness and weight-loss boarding school for obese youngsters. Now she is back in the UK and she is due to see the GMTV team on Tuesday to talk of her experiences.
