Child of 5 taken in to care due to being Obese!

All over the media this morning they are discussing the fact that a child of five has been taken into care due to the fact that they were sufferring from obesity.

Some comments were that by letting a child get to this stage is a form of child cruelty.

Unfortunately in our view a lot is do to the fact that children don’t come with a manual and maybe mothers need educating and also the fact that young parents today aren’t taught home economics. In my day, sorry sound a bit like I am playing my violin, we were taught the basics of preparing basic low fat content food.

Together with the fact that the supermarkets are a lot to blame for being stocked to the ceilings with ready meals, snacks, biscuits and others calorific goodies.

In addition to this we have the issues that many mothers are working, not always because they want to, but due to pressures of keeping their head above water, and it is so easy to buy a cheap ready meal than come home and start cooking from scratch after a long day. Also if you are tired and a child is creating then a biscuit, cake or chocolate can often keep them quiet!

We also have the situation where the schools have been greedy during the housing boom when playing fields were sold off ,to make money, but in return means that children have no where to exercise and play. In addition mothers in today’s world can’t let their children out on their own to play anymore.

So who do we have to blame for these issues, which will be on the increase, with the size of the nation getting larger day by day ?
