1 in 5 Pregnant Women Suffering With Obesity
It appears in the press today that there seems to be an increase in pregnant women suffering from obesity and in fact 1 in 5 are suffering.
It’s hard enough carry a baby around at the end without having excess weight – having experienced two and not being particularly overweight I do understand the pressures than a baby puts on your body.
But on a serious note by being obese at this juncture can cause serious issues for example, miscarriage, pre-eclampsia, the child being still born and also diabetes.
I think we all have the impression because we are pregnant we can eat for two but according to the press today the calorie increase that we should limit ourselves to is only 200 extra calories a day ! Many women get cravings when they are pregnant some stranger than others (my colleague has a passion for Strawberries and Picked Onions!!) but it must be hard if you get a craving for chocolate or fatty food.
So I know I sound a misery but girls before you take that extra mouthful or snack just think of what effect it could have on you in the future.
We all want a healthy baby and it is so important for you to be healthy too as having a little one is hard work.
However we at 100percentpeople are not of the view that the fact that 1 in 5 pregant women are obese is new as we wrote this article over three years ago following a television programme by ITV.
