Help get body diversity in the fashion industry

Mark FastWe all know that the fashion industry should be catering to individuals of all sizes but how many of us really do something about it to try to change this perspective?

I have reported on Gok Wan and Shona’s campaign to get body diversity in magazines, now the owner of Sinclair Management, Angel, is intent on changing the outlook of beauty to get all shapes, sizes, age and colour in the fashion industry.

Models are expected to fit into a standardised measurement which is unrealistic to the rest of the population and unhealthy, imagine what the figures of models do to the most influential age generation; teens and young women are constantly striving to achieve the impossible to very risky consequences.

Now more people are joining the crusade on body diversity and I think we should all get involved.

Angel Sinclair explains the ramifications involved with using unrealistic models;
“Too many women fall into the trap of believing they should aspire to look like a stereotypical size zero, tall, blonde model or a busty, blonde glamour girl, which is totally impractical for the majority of the female population as only a very small percentage of females can achieve that unrealistic goal and they are usually the women working within the fashion or glamour industry. Images of these models are very often misleading as in the majority of cases images have been digitally enhanced to make the girls look ‘perfect’.”

Angel wants your support and opinions on the model industry, this campaign is very close to her heart. She is the founder of Sinclair Management, where she manages an array of upcoming models, she too is a model. The campaign encompasses this final point from her website;

“The long awaited message is that ‘everyone is entitled to feel beautiful’ regardless of your ethnicity, height or shape. In this day and age women should feel empowered and proud of themselves not ill, under confident and lacking in self esteem.”
