Work Wear Advice for Tall Men!
Today I am reaching out to the tall guys among us. And you guys have it just as bad as any of us fat guys I know, so let’s get started with what to wear to the office.
Here is something to always keep in mind. If you are taller than 6-foot-4 you probably need to wear a “tall” suit. But if you are that height or shorter, you may be able to get away with a regular suit so start there first. Here’s how to tell. If you put on the jacket to a suit and it is long enough to cover your butt, the length is fine. The second (and probably more obvious) consideration is the sleeves. If they come down to at least the little round ball on each wrist then you are OK, if not, then you will have to have the sleeves let down.
You should also opt for a 3-button jacket as well as this will hide the length of your torso and give you less of a lanky look to your overall body frame. If you are big and tall, go for a bold chalk stripe (vertical obviously) as this will play up your tallness, not your roundness. If you are tall and lanky, then look for a pinstripe, or better yet, choose a solid.
And finally my tall brothers, if your pants have a single pleat, make sure you get cuffs as this will add weight to the bottom of the trouser and keep the crease intact. More than 1 pleat, run! I know it’s always a struggle for tall guys not to look gangly, so hopefully these tips help you blend in a bit when you walk into a room.
