Emma Plus, Nominee for 2011 Plus Size Independent Retailer Award

Emma Plus is an independent women’s fashion store specialising in British sizes 18-34.  It is situated in the North Laine, the vibrant, trendy area in Brighton on the south coast of England.  The owner, Emma Hayes, has worked in the plus-size industry for over 20 years, and the shop is nationally renowned for its edgy, directional take on fashion for the larger woman.

The store runs a successful blog and forum (www.emmaplus.co.uk/forum), and often holds fashion shows.  Recently, they hosted Anna Scholz, who visited the store to show her collection and speak with customers.  She was delighted to visit Emma, and her manager Jaq Buckeridge (pictured).

All the well-known plus-size ranges are stocked, so as well as Anna Scholz, there is, for example, Marina Rinaldi, Elena Miro, Elena Grunert, Personal Choice, Exelle, and some collections for which they are the only UK stockist, like Sallie Sahne.

Emma Plus is determined to offer the plus-size fashion purchaser as near an ideal experience as possible: skilled stylists are on hand to advise and assist, the varied and exciting collection is put together with all body shapes in mind, and a free alteration service is available to ensure a perfect fit.  There is an unhurried, friendly atmosphere, where most customers enjoy refreshments whilst browsing.

Travel links to the store are very simple, as it is situated right next to a major car park, and just round the corner from the train station and bus routes.
