Tall Couture for Women
Wednesday, April 28th, 2010
Being comfortable in what you wear is one of those important factors in life to make you feel great. If it doesn’t fit then you’re not yourself – we have all been there, no matter what shape or size; so in my exploration I found fashion sites that truely deliver style and fit for tall!
The Tall Shop provides something a little different, their collection is unique and in most cases handmade to bring you those alternative looks so we aren’t all wearing the same thing. The website is sleek and fresh, the clothing encompasses on-trend bright and ditsy vintage chic and long line tribal dresses.
How to look good.com is a resource for women of all shapes and sizes by Caryn Franklin. The site offers a free newsletter straight to your email box about the latest fashion and how to dress for your size; it also offers the advice of Caryn in detail through an e-book, unfortunately, the book comes at a cost but at £9.97 it’s not a bad price for style advice.
Lanky Bird is specifically for a certain type of women, check out their website to see if you fit the bill – you have to be “lanky!” It’s a lovely website and they are about providing beautiful classic essentials that have the all important quirky features. They promise fit, flattery and high quality. Their clothes are all manufactured in the UK, something you rarely see now, so I congratulate them on this.
One shop you are probably already aware of but well worth the mention is Long Tall Sally. They offer a beautiful array of clothing just for tall women, ranging from basic wear to glamour, it’s all you need under one roof. LTS has a wide variety of pieces for women 5′8 and above size 10-20 and shoes 7-11. They understand what fashion is about and how all women want style to suit their frame.
Top Shop Tall has a lovely array of their trendy and funky clothing especially for taller women.
If you’re expecting, Bean Pole Bumps is the UK’s first online shop solely catering for tall maternity wear. The website doesn’t look as professional as others but there is a wide selection of items all of which are modelled on people so you can see what they will look like on.
Online Resources for Tall Folks
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010
In my search to find out more about the tall people in this world and the things that affect their life, for example, where do they buy clothes and shoes? What is it like being tall? (As you can tell, I am a short person and suffer with things like the length of my trousers, which I am sure, for those of you that are tall have the same issues but just in the reverse!) I came across a huge amount of resources, so many that I don’t think I could mention them all here but I will do my best to try!!
And before you get defensive over why I am focusing on tall this week, please don’t feel I am singling you out, I am merely understanding you and appreciating you for being different. Read this paragraph from Tall Expression. It is beautiful.
A younger, very short woman recently approached me, with the same giddy nervousness of someone star struck. “I just had to come over and stand near you just to see how short I was!” She wanted to feel more short? That didn’t make sense until Cornelia’s words and my own experiences finally came together. None of these people who approach me are being rude. They aren’t trying to make us feel badly about ourselves. They are just in awe of us! After that clicked, I felt so open to this woman who approached me. I reached out to her and put my arm around her saying, “You don’t want to feel more short, do you?” I laughed because I knew that wasn’t what she meant. Then, of course, the regular height questions followed, but this time I wasn’t annoyed. I finally understood and embraced what made me stand out. I understood why tall people get all of this attention. We are different! We are special. We are celebrities in our own right.
Over the next couple of days I intend to deliver; useful websites – which will be today’s offering, online shopping totally catering to taller folk and finding tall love. I would love your input so if you have something you want the world to know comment below!

Get Ready for Spring with Long Tall Sally
Tuesday, January 19th, 2010
Beat the January blues and invest in your wardrobe with Long Tall Sally’s new spring collection.
There appears to be a lot of colour about in the Spring ranges I have seen so far and it makes such a refreshing change to the dowdy but often comforting winter colours we wear. I think it is because I have got used to my winter wardrobe so you forget that colour really does exist!
Long Tall Sally have produced some fabulous pieces to get you in
the mood for summer, specially tailored to those above 5′8″. Like this floral print Belvoir dress which will take you from winter to spring and onto the summer months, pair it with some cute pumps when the warmer months appear and flip flops with the summer heat or for your holiday. I also adore this beautifully printed shift dress in the same style but it just offers more vibrancy and colour and one which will certainly take you through the summer months.
The green bangle she wears in this photograph is also available from LTS at only £8.
Would love to know your thoughts on the new collection, comments below, what will you be investing in for your new season wardrobe?
