Congratulations to our first US winner!

October 21st, 2009

Congratulations Elizabeth Free, our first winner for The Face of 100% People who is from the USA! Elizabeth has won the 3rd Quarter of the competition, here is what she had to say and her message was part of the reason she won!

Profile

Elizabeth Free

Age: 42

Location: Dallas, USA

Occupation: Purchasing Card Administrator

Dress Size: 24

What Elizabeth had to say: “I am floored to have been chosen.  I think this website is a great idea.. one whose message needs to go worldwide.  What a blessing that we live in the age of technolgy!  Word needs to get out that, contrary to common belief, you can be larger without compromising health, fashion, or lifestyle.  The only roadblock I ever encounter is prejudice!”

I asked Elizabeth if she would mind if I posted her message that she sent to us when she entered the competition, it really blew me away and I wanted to share it with you because she is an inspiration.

“I was floored to hear about your website…and your cause! It’s amazing how the ‘skinny only’ mindset is still so entrenched — not only in the fashion world, but everywhere we look. Why alienate 40% of the population??

I fly in the face of every stereotype there is. I was slender most of my life, until 14 surgeries (and a prescription of Prednisone — the kiss of death) rendered me a size 24. I refuse to apologize for my size, nor am I on an insane dash toward my previous figure. I am grateful that God thought enough of me to keep me around, and I’m enjoying the journey!

I am a fearless single mother. We go on great adventures together, me and my son.. We go on cross country road trips, camping, fishing, climbing… you name it!

The 8 years of physical challenges (and close brushes with death) taught me to embrace life! Don’t wait until you look like “X” or have “X” to live your life — it won’t wait for you!

I think it’s important to get that message out. Plump ladies need to quit hiding and feeling like they need to apologize. Life is a gift — RELISH IT!!! LIVE IT!!! GET OUT THERE!!!”
